Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World is one of the most anticipated movies of the MCU’s Phase 5. The return of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America, the introduction of key political themes, and the appearance of General Ross as the U.S. President had fans eagerly waiting for an action-packed story. However, while the movie delivers some thrilling sequences and emotional moments, there are a few missed opportunities that could have made it even better.

1. The Story Could Have Been More Engaging
While Brave New World explores political tension and the responsibilities of Captain America, the narrative could have been much more interesting. The film tries to balance action, politics, and character development but falls short of delivering a gripping plot that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. A more unpredictable storyline with deeper character arcs would have added more emotional weight to Sam Wilson’s journey.
2. The Red Hulk Reveal – A Missed Opportunity
One of the biggest disappointments in Brave New World was the premature reveal of Red Hulk in the trailers. Instead of keeping General Ross’s transformation into Red Hulk a surprise, the marketing campaign gave away one of the biggest twists. Imagine the impact if the audience had discovered this transformation during the film itself! It would have been a jaw-dropping moment, making the experience far more thrilling. Marvel has always been known for its surprises, and keeping this secret would have given fans an unforgettable cinematic shock.
3. The Story Needed Bucky Barnes
Another missed opportunity was the absence of Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) in a meaningful way. While Sam Wilson’s journey as Captain America is compelling, bringing Bucky into the mix would have added an emotional depth that the film needed. Bucky and Sam’s chemistry was a highlight in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and seeing them reunite on-screen could have strengthened the film’s impact. Instead of focusing so much on Red Hulk’s reveal, the story could have been centered around a deeper conflict involving Bucky, possibly tying into the legacy of Captain America in a more profound way.
4. Keeping Red Hulk a Mystery Would Have Enhanced the Suspense
Instead of showcasing General Ross as Red Hulk in the trailers, the film should have built up suspense around his character. Hiding his transformation would have created speculation, fan theories, and excitement leading up to the movie. This approach would have made the final reveal in the climax of the film an unforgettable moment. Marvel missed the chance to deliver one of the best twists in the franchise by revealing too much, too soon.

Final Thoughts
Captain America: Brave New World has its strengths, including some great action sequences and powerful performances, but it could have been much better if Marvel had taken a different approach to its storytelling. By keeping the Red Hulk reveal a secret and integrating Bucky Barnes into the plot, the film could have been a more engaging and memorable experience for fans.
